Chef Eric Robertson brings his international influences to Restaurant Pearl Morissette and his passion for creating menus from local and thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Originally from Brantford, Eric has always had a dedication to agricultural movements. Shane Chartrand is a leading voice in Indigenous cuisine in North America. Shauna Godfrey trained at the Culinary Institute of America and went on to work at Atera, a two-Michelin-starred restaurant in New York City.  Returning to Toronto in 2017, she worked at Momofuku Kojin, where she led a large team as Sous Chef for two years, and then Manita. In November 2024, Shauna opened Maven in Toronto's Harbord Village, her first solo project and a welcome new presence in one of the city's most vibrant dining neighbourhoods.

Steven Shigeru Molnar began his culinary journey at 17, later moving to Toronto to work at Nota Bene under David Lee. Vikram Vij is an Indian-born Canadian chef, restaurateur, author and television personality, best known as the visionary behind Vij’s, the acclaimed Vancouver restaurant that helped redefine Indian cuisine in Canada. Zach Keeshig is the Owner and Chef of Naagan. Born in Wiarton and raised in Owen Sound, he knew he wanted to become a chef at the age of 17, after a part-time job in a restaurant. He went on to study at Georgian College for Culinary Arts Continuing to build on his culinary education, then to work in various restaurants across Ontario with many of the top chefs in Canada. His time in the kitchens of places like Michael Stadtländer’s Eigensinn Farm (9th Best Restaurant 50 worlds best), Restaurant Pearl Morrisette (2 Michelin star, 1 green Star), Canoe (Michelin recommended), Enigma (1 Michelin Star), Langdon Hall (Michelin recommended) and Aska (2 Michelin star) has helped him fuse his Ojibwa cuisine with modern culinary techniques.

Laurianne Desmarais-Gilbert is a former Olympic mogul skier who competed with Canada’s national team for eight years, culminating in the 2026 Winter Olympics before retiring from elite competition. This fall, she will begin university studies in physiotherapy, with the goal of supporting athletes and returning to elite sport in a new role as a therapist. A passionate feminist and advocate for women in sport, Laurianne works with Femmes dans le Sport, a Quebec-based organization promoting women’s health in athletics. She also mentors young girls in mogul skiing, encouraging them to stay in sport, have fun and take up space with confidence.

Liam Hickey is one of Canada’s most accomplished multi-sport Paralympians, representing the country in both wheelchair basketball and para ice hockey. He was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, and has competed for Team Canada in wheelchair basketball at the 2016 Paralympic Games before focusing on para ice hockey, where he has become a key forward for the national team. Liam has earned multiple international medals, including Paralympic silver medals and world championship success with Canada’s para hockey squad after playing in the 2018, 2022 and 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. Off the ice, he is a strong advocate for adaptive sport development in Newfoundland and Labrador and was awarded the Order of Newfoundland and Labrador. Liam continues to inspire the next generation of athletes through leadership and community involvement while training for the next Winter Paralympic Games.

Since 2020, Mitch Marner’s charity, the Marner Assist Foundation, has partnered with Second Harvest to assist in the fight against food insecurity. MAF has proudly supported Second Harvest's Feeding Our Future program annually, which aims to ensure that children and youth will have access to food and activities that will nourish both the body and the mind, year-round.  MAF is proud to participate with Second Harvest hands-on, through food sorting volunteer sessions at their warehouse. They look forward to continuing to partner with Second Harvest in the years to come to ensure everyone has access to nutritious meals throughout the year.

Autumn Peltier is an International Indigenous rights and water activist whose advocacy has gained international recognition. She first drew global attention at age 12 after challenging Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on water protection at an Assembly of First Nations event. At 13, she first addressed the United Nations General Assembly and later spoke at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Action Summit and the World Economic Forum alongside Greta Thunberg. Her work continues as an Ambassador and Contributor with the United Nations, and she has been shortlisted for the International Children's Peace Prize three times. In 2022, Autumn was runner-up for the International Children’s Peace Prize.Autumn has received numerous honours, including the Sovereign Medal for Exceptional Volunteerism and the Community Hero Award from Canada’s Walk of Fame. Her HBO documentary, The Water Walker, premiered in 2019, and her work is currently on display at the Canadian Museum of History. In 2026, Autumn and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights will unveil a new exhibit highlighting her advocacy, and Autumn will also launch The Autumn Peltier Institute.

She has spent her career reporting on climate and environmental issues for national and international media, and has appeared as a trusted eco expert on major television networks across Canada. Candice is also the author of Sustained: Creating a Sustainable Home Through Small Changes, Money Saving Habits, and Natural Solutions, and is widely recognized for making sustainable living accessible, practical and engaging for everyday audiences.

Emily “Ranger Em” Febrey is a conservation educator and communicator passionate about helping people connect with nature and live more sustainably. Through outdoor education, storytelling and digital content, she shares approachable and engaging insights into local wildlife, ecosystems, conservation and environmental stewardship in southwestern Ontario. Whether exploring trails, spotlighting species at risk or sharing practical ways to care for the environment, Ranger Em hopes to inspire curiosity, sustainability and a deeper appreciation for the natural world around us.

Genevieve MacKenzie is the Manager, Corporate Partnerships at Second Harvest. After completing her nutrition degree at Acadia University in 2017, she knew she wanted to use her degree to support communities and help address the growing food insecurity crisis in Canada. She began her career running a food service and hospitality training program at an immigrant women’s centre in the east end of Toronto, followed by a brief (and memorable!) stint in the corporate world as a wild mushroom and truffle seller, before finding her place at Second Harvest more than four and a half years ago. As an ambassador for the Race to Rescue campaign, Genevieve is passionate about raising awareness around food waste in Canada and helping ensure good food ends up where it belongs: on plates and out of landfills.

Hayley Elsaesser is a Canadian fashion designer, creative director and entrepreneur known for her bold prints, vibrant colour palettes and playful approach to self-expression. Through her namesake label, she has built a cult following for dopamine-driven fashion that blends streetwear, art and pop culture influences. Her work has included collaborations with major global brands across fashion, beauty, gaming and lifestyle, while championing inclusivity, individuality and confidence through design.

With a career extending over the past 15 years, Kae St. Kitts is a multi-disciplinary artist in the realms of sustainable art, public floral installations, wardrobe styling with WNBA clientele, visual merchandising and upscale event and interior decoration within both the Canadian and American market. In a harmonious fusion of her diverse talents during the pandemic, she unveiled nugift in 2020. nugift stands as an eco-conscious brand, carving a niche in crafting bespoke, handcrafted art pieces and innovative floral activations. Karishma Porwal is a climate storyteller, content creator and educator who loves to bring nature and sustainability into everyday topics — sharing light and hope to an otherwise daunting conversation. Karishma guest lectures at institutions like Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Western Ontario on how to talk about climate change and how we can change a narrative of doom to a narrative of doing. She is also featured on CTV's Your Morning as their resident “Eco-Expert.” For her day job, she works as a Communications Manager at a climate-focused non-profit.

Mike Layton is Vice-President of Philanthropy at Second Harvest. He previously served as Chief Sustainability Officer for York University and spent 12 years on Toronto City Council, where the Toronto Star dubbed him the Council's "Environmentalist-in-Chief" for his climate leadership. Outside the boardroom, Mike is an adventurous home cook. He is an avid pickler and canner, and he even took home a purple ribbon for his spicy zucchini relish at the Royal Winter Fair. He also finished dead last at Mad About Marmalade in 2013 with a Campari grapefruit marmalade that one judge deemed "too boozy." Mike has no regrets.

Puneeta Chhitwal-Varma is a Canadian food and sustainability author, public speaker and TV and radio guest expert. Known for her energy and expertise, Puneeta teaches people how good food and climate action are deeply interconnected and that sustainable living practices can (and must) be a part of our everyday routines. Amanda Baton is the creator and owner of Saht’ea Adze Beadwork, based in Somba K’e, Denendeh. Of Sahtúot’ine Dene and German descent, Amanda is an aspiring Indigenous artist, teacher and proud mother of two.Her work weaves together her experience as a mental health and addictions counsellor with her passion for language revitalization and traditional arts. Nicole and Ben are small-scale farmers, storytellers and advocates for rebuilding local food security from the ground up. Based in rural New Brunswick with their two sons, Sawyer and Ezra, they run a working homestead with livestock, gardens and greenhouses while documenting their journey through their TV show, Homegrown, and social media.Together, they grow produce, raise animals and create handmade products while sharing practical knowledge about self-sufficiency, sustainability and where food comes from. Caroline Cox is a Northwest Territories-based filmmaker who specializes in projects that focus on the culture, environment and lifestyles of Canada’s Far North. Caroline is the producer and director of the hit TV series Wild Kitchen and the series NorthernHer and Backcountry Hustle. Food For The Rest of Us, Caroline's first feature-length documentary film, examines four stories across North America of marginalized people farming as a form of activism. Currently she is producing a four-part documentary series Uniaraqtuq: One Who Mushes for Uvagut TV.

Christina is a social worker and intentional living content creator based in Toronto. Her work is rooted in the belief that every person deserves to feel dignified, seen and cared for. Dr. Shazma Mithani is an emergency physician at an inner-city hospital in Edmonton, where she has a front row seat to the very real health impacts of food insecurity. She is also the co-host of The Doc Talk Podcast, dedicated to demystifying complex health topics for everyday listeners.

Emma Kerr is the Coordinator of Partnerships & Fundraising at Second Harvest, where she collaborates with community organizations and corporate supporters to help advance the organization’s food rescue mission nationwide. Emma’s commitment to this work has been shaped through hands‑on experiences with partners on the front lines working to combat food insecurity. Building relationships within communities — hearing what motivates partners and witnessing the real impact that strong collaboration can create — continues to fuel her passion and guide her approach. As an ambassador for the Race to Rescue campaign, Emma is proud to stand alongside the organizations and individuals driving meaningful change, while helping raise critical funds and awareness to ensure good food reaches communities where it’s needed most and never goes to waste.

Florence Sauvé is a Montreal-based content creator who strives to make a small difference through her social media presence. Food waste is a cause very close to her heart, both from an environmental and social perspective. She firmly believes that every action counts in building a more just and sustainable society. That’s why she’s very proud to be an ambassador for Second Harvest.

Gabi Abreu is a Toronto-based dietetics professional and content creator who’s passionate about making health feel more realistic and accessible, especially when it comes to food. As someone who works in the health space, supporting Second Harvest felt like an easy yes for Gabi. Knowing that food insecurity is something that’s affecting more and more Canadians, while so much perfectly good food still goes to waste, she’s proud to be one of 100 Canadians coming together to help rescue 1 million meals.

Hilary Messer-Barrow is a Yukon-based content creator sharing life from a remote northern community. Her work focuses on storytelling around place, connection and the everyday realities of living in the North. She is joining the Second Harvest campaign because access to food in remote northern communities is something she experiences and thinks about daily. She’s interested in supporting efforts that reduce food waste and strengthen more equitable, sustainable food systems across Canada, especially for communities where access is limited and costs are high.

Irina Lytchak is a pilates instructor and writer based in Toronto, with a passion for movement, mindful living and helping people feel strong in their bodies. She grew up in Toronto after being born in Ukraine, which has shaped her appreciation for both community and resilience. Alongside teaching pilates, she works as a writer and content strategist, helping brands and organizations tell clear, meaningful stories. She’s an avid baker, which has become a creative outlet and a way to slow down and connect with everyday rituals. Irina cares deeply about the environment and tries to live in a way that reflects that, whether through daily habits or the choices she makes in work and lifestyle. She’s especially drawn to nature and finds a lot of inspiration and grounding in being outdoors.

Isabel Lanthier is a content creator based in the Montreal area. She is participating in this campaign because food waste is an issue that deeply affects her. Too much food ends up in the trash while families struggle to afford the basics. For her, supporting Second Harvest is a concrete way to work toward a more just and responsible world.

Julie Miguel is a television cooking expert, who has been featured on many of Canada’s top daytime lifestyle shows, as well as a recipe writer and content creator. Julie's passion for food stems from the creative process of taking traditionally complex dishes and making them easy and approachable for home cooks. Her interest in cooking began at a very young age and some of her fondest food memories that shaped her life and career were at family gatherings while being in the kitchen together with her mother, aunts and grandmother preparing food. She brings her Italian heritage into everything she does and now, cooking is more than a proud inheritance — it’s her passion. Julie is joining this campaign because she has always been passionate about reducing food waste in her home and feels compelled to take part in spreading awareness about this very important initiative.

Lesley Kelly is a grain farmer from Saskatchewan, a mental health advocate and co-founder of the Do More Agriculture Foundation, the first national organization dedicated solely to mental health in agriculture in Canada and the world. Through her platform, High Heels and Canola Fields, Lesley shares real-life experiences from the farm to connect consumers and producers, while raising awareness and reducing stigma around mental health in rural communities. She is passionate about strengthening rural communities and creating space for farmers to feel seen, supported and heard.

Lily Bernard is the Manager, Partnerships and Fundraising at Second Harvest, where she works with partners across Canada to help raise funds and awareness for the organization’s mission. After graduating from Dalhousie University in 2022, Lily knew she wanted to build a career supporting communities in need. She has always loved food and believes it is deeply connected to who we are, bringing people together across cultures, backgrounds and lived experiences. Through her work at Second Harvest, Lily’s appreciation for food has grown stronger, reaffirming her belief that food is more than fuel. It provides comfort, dignity and safety, and should always be valued and never wasted. As an ambassador, she is proud to continue spreading Second Harvest’s message and turn action into impact.

Over the past 20 years, Lolitta Dandoy has become a leading figure in Canadian fashion. Today, she is undoubtedly one of the most influential fashion journalists and columnists in Quebec. Her two main fields of expertise are local design and second hand clothing, because she believes fashion should have a positive impact!

Mariah Hartmann is a Product Designer at Second Harvest, where she helps design and improve the Food Rescue App, connecting food businesses with non-profits to redirect surplus food to communities across Canada. Mariah is driven by the opportunity to create digital solutions that advance Second Harvest’s vision of No Waste. No Hunger. She is inspired by the organization's commitment to reducing food waste, protecting the environment and increasing access to nutritious food, and is grateful to contribute to work that creates meaningful social and environmental impact. Outside of work, Mariah loves playing tennis, exploring new places and bringing people together around the dinner table.

Rachel Clasadonte is the Experiential Production Manager at Second Harvest, where she creates meaningful, mission‑driven events that showcase the impact of food rescue nationwide. Rachel’s passion is shaped by her years volunteering at Toronto‑based non‑profits, where she saw how food can influence a person’s sense of stability, and dignity. That understanding continues to guide her approach today, inspiring her to produce events that elevate community voices and highlight the real‑world impact of Second Harvest. As an ambassador for the Race to Rescue campaign, Rachel is committed to raising vital funds and awareness to help ensure good food ends up where it belongs — on plates and out of landfills.

Seanna Thomas is a Food & Nutrition Consultant, mom of three teenagers and the energetic host of Meal Prep Mondays on CP24 Breakfast. As a dynamic public speaker and media personality, she inspires busy parents, young athletes and corporate audiences with practical food education. Seanna regularly contributes to the Ontario Minor Hockey Association and various other media outlets. Grounded in comprehensive nutrition knowledge, she specializes in realistic, budget-friendly and sustainable eating strategies that promote healthy family habits and optimize fuel for young active athletes.

Sherise Pettipas is the creator behind @wildblossomshomestead. She lives in Antigonish County, Nova Scotia with her husband and two children. Through her online community she shares gardening tips and techniques as well as slow living inspiration. Sherise loves growing food. Gardening has brought her so much pride and joy for years now and it is her favourite way to spend time with her family. She focuses on growing bulk amounts of food in her gardens and strive to process and preserve large harvests for family and friends to eat all winter long.

Tyler Heppell is a fifth-generation farmer and the creator of Ugly Potato Day. After working in sales at a Fortune 500 company, he returned to his family’s farm in search of more purpose — where he quickly saw how broken the food distribution system can be, with perfectly good produce going to waste while communities struggle to access fresh food. That realization led him to launch Ugly Potato Day, a growing food redistribution initiative that rescues surplus produce and gives it away for free to thousands of families. Today, Tyler shares his journey and mission with an audience of over 2 million followers across platforms, using his voice to raise awareness around agriculture, reduce food waste and help build a more efficient and equitable food system.

Emily Owen is a Senior Foodraising Manager at Second Harvest with a background in grain trading and agricultural supply chain management.  Raised on a farm in Manitoba and married to a potato farmer, she brings deep-rooted passion for Canadian agriculture and ensuring nutritious food reaches those who need it most.  Through her work, Emily connects farmers and food businesses with communities facing food insecurity, transforming surplus and off-grade food into meals instead of waste. A passionate mother of two, she is driven to see people in need fed nutritious food while building a stronger, more resilient food system for future generations. Emily thrives on creating collaborative solutions that help farmers keep feeding people and strengthen communities through the power of food. Emily wants every child to have access to good food, and she believes the Race to Rescue campaign is a powerful way to rescue 1 million meals while strengthening communities through collaborative food rescue.

Janice brings over 20 years of experience in sales, logistics and operations, with a strong track record of leadership in the food and beverage industry. Before joining Second Harvest as Senior Foodraising Manager for British Columbia, she served as Director of Food Logistics at Quest Outreach Society, where she managed operations across five non-profit grocery markets, a distribution centre and a repacking department. Janice’s deep understanding of food systems, combined with her passion for community impact, makes her a perfect fit for Second Harvest’s mission.

Katie Hepp works to get surplus food into communities across Saskatchewan, where it can deliver immediate, meaningful impact. She’s inspired by the partners, non-profits and communities she has the privilege of working with and the incredible dedication they bring to helping others. The passion and commitment across these organizations in meeting the needs of those they serve is what drives her work, and continues to amplify her view of the importance of food rescue every day. As part of the Race to Rescue campaign, Katie is thrilled to help shine a light on the difference redirecting surplus food makes in the lives of so many.

Peter Wiggins is a dedicated educator and administrator serving as the leader of Peter Pitseolak School in South Baffin Island. With a strong background in teaching, he has played an active role in fostering student growth through athletics, science initiatives and heritage fairs, creating opportunities for youth to explore their interests and build confidence.

As a teacher-administrator, Peter is deeply committed to community well-being. He works collaboratively with school staff and local partners to address food insecurity, helping establish the Nuna Parr “Eating Together is Living Together” Food Bank. Through this initiative, he supports equitable access to food while strengthening relationships among students, families and the broader community.

Peter’s leadership reflects a balance of educational excellence, cultural respect and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of those he serves.

After working on a mixed vegetable farm, in health food retail and now with Second Harvest, Sarah Dobec knows both the value of food and the cost of letting it go to landfill. Sarah believes that good food should be shared, not wasted. That is why she is committed to helping rescue surplus food and inspiring others to take action!
