Second Harvest offers practical training for the non-profit sector, with certifications and education sessions that meet the needs and realities of community food programs.  

Education sessions

Whether you're a staff member, volunteer or program participant, you’ll build essential skills in food safety, food literacy and waste prevention. Learn about the variety of education sessions and certification programs that we offer below.

Second Harvest offers engaging, 1-hour training sessions that can be delivered virtually across Canada or in-person within the Greater Toronto Area. Education sessions are available in English or French, and are available for group bookings with a minimum of 10 individuals.

Cost:

  • Free for existing Second Harvest partners on our Delivery & Pick-Up Program and Food Rescue App users (Partners may book up to two education session per fiscal year, September to August).
  • $150+ per session for non-profit or charitable organizations not currently partnered with Second Harvest

Book a training experience

To host a private training for your organization at a time, date, and location of your choosing, fill out our Training Request Form:

A minimum of 15 participants is required to book a private training session. If you are an existing Second Harvest partner with fewer than 15 participants, you can join a scheduled training instead. Notifications about upcoming drop‑in training sessions are shared via email and notifications in the Food Rescue App.
