We at The Mustard Seed accommodate anywhere from 50-150 guests, 3 meals a day using these products. All of the food donations that we receive [from Second Harvest] are put directly into meals and sometimes used to bake treats for the guests. The Mustard Seed feeds and provides for community members facing homelessness and poverty. One guest in particular is always complimenting the variety and taste of our food
We are truly grateful for Second Harvest’s ongoing support of our community. In Kugluktuk, where food costs are among the highest in Canada and many families face significant financial hardship, the annual barge donation is critically important. Although the shipment supports us for a few months, during that time it allows us to directly assist our most vulnerable households — including elders, single-parent families and those experiencing food insecurity. The donation helps stabilize families who are struggling to meet their most basic daily needs and provides meaningful relief in a region where affordable food options are extremely limited. Support like this has a profound impact in the North. Your partnership not only helps feed people — it strengthens our community and ensures that those who are most vulnerable are not left behind.
