Seeing the relief and gratitude on people's faces as they receive fresh produce and prepared meals reminds us why partnerships like ours are so vital. Your commitment to fighting food insecurity in our community does not go unnoticed. Thank you for standing with us and for making such a significant difference in the lives of our neighbours.

The collaborative efforts with the Tłı̨chǫ Government and Second Harvest helped us fulfill our goal of serving residents in the Behchoko community and address the urgent needs of our food security program. Over two days, we distributed about 90 hampers of essential goods and food items such as milk, bread, eggs and meat to the most vulnerable members of our community. Individuals and families came to receive the donated food and expressed their thanks to Second Harvest and the organization involved.

There are two primary benefits. The first, of course, is that [rescued food] lowers our food costs. But the second I'd consider a better benefit — people eat better food. Everybody knows that fresh food is more expensive than dry goods and packaged foods. The majority of the food that we receive [from Second Harvest] is fresh and we get an opportunity to feed that to people here.
