In Kugluktuk, where food costs are among the highest in Canada and many families face significant financial hardship, the annual barge donation is critically important. Although the shipment supports us for a few months, during that time it allows us to directly assist our most vulnerable households — including elders, single-parent families, and those experiencing food insecurity. The donation helps stabilize families who are struggling to meet their most basic daily needs and provides meaningful relief in a region where affordable food options are extremely limited.
